Ellen Covey is a professor at the University of Washington, but has also been growing orchids commercially since 2006. Fascinated by the fragrances of orchid flowers, she established Olympic Orchids Perfumes in 2010, and has since expanded her line to include a wide variety of genres. She has received worldwide acclaim and multiple awards for her fragrances, including twice winning the prestigious Institute for Art and Olfaction Award, once for Woodcut in 2015, and again for Zoologist Bat in 2016. Her approach to perfumery is to create fragrances of the highest possible quality while making sure they are affordable. Her line runs the gamut from vintage-type florals through contemporary niche, including highly conceptual and experimental scents.
