In her free time, Yosh is a professional PADI MSDT open water scuba instructor, blue water sailor, and wild swimmer. Believing the ocean is one of her communication channels to the Supreme Being, she's swum the "Golden Gate Bridge swim" and the swim from Alcatraz to Aquatic Park’s South End Rowing Club (twice!) - each swim being 1.5 miles in 60F. Yosh is currently sailing in Polynesia from Tahiti to Fiji on a 52’ sailboat and stopping in the Cook Islands, Tonga and Nieu. Earlier this year, she spent 2 weeks sailing in the Sea of Cortez in Baja Mexico exploring Espíritu Santo and the surrounding islands. While in California, she sails in San Francisco Bay, Marina del Rey and Long Beach. In 2017 she crossed the equator by catamaran from Papua New Guinea to Palau on the Cabrinha Quest; as is customary for all sailors doing equator crossing, Yosh made an offering to Neptune, god of the sea, and committed herself to being an Ambassador of the Ocean.
While swimming, sailing and diving in various bodies of water around the globe, she has encountered grey whales, giant oceanic manta rays, reef tip sharks, parrot fish, turtles, scorpion, puffer and frogfish as well as rare pygmy seahorses and nudibranchs. She has a penchant for diving among historical WWII wrecks. While is currently workings towards her Master Captain license, her big dream is to circumnavigate the world by boat.
